Stephanos founded Horizon Capital in 2004 in association with Highbridge Zwirn, a New York-based hedge fund. Along with Seacor Holdings and local partners he co-founded InterBarge, a company that provides bulk transportation services on the Parana-Paraguay Waterway (South America) to clients in the mining and agriculture industries. Stephanos also advised a Greek shipping company in their USD 240 million equity private placement. Prior to founding Horizon, Stephanos was the Founder and Managing Director of Horizon Shipholdings, an Athens-based company that was active in trading physical oil from the FSU into the Black Sea and Mediterranean and in trading freight. In the late 90s, while still in his twenties, Stephanos founded and ran Trans Caspian Shipping, a pioneering, Baku-based shipping company that transported crude oil across the Caspian Sea and resolved logistical problems for oil majors Mobil and Chevron. Stephanos started his professional career working for Burren Energy, where he was responsible for oil trading. Stephanos holds a B.S. in Economics and a B.A. in Political Science from Yale University.
